*Laois 1s v UCD (Away) 15th February 2025* 

Laois Hockey 1s travelled to UCD late last Saturday afternoon. The game started at a very high pace with UCD looking threatening from the get-go. UCD were at a distinct advantage with the pitch as it took Laois quite a while to get the hang of the bounciness and the speed of the ball. After a number of well defended attacks, UCD managed to break through with an overlap and got their first goal. UCD kept the pressure on after this and despite Laois's best attempts to get the ball up the field, UCD seemed to get on the end of every attack. Laois defence and keeper kept out numerous attacks until UCD intercepted a hit out and took advantage of the scrambled defence to take their second goal. In spite of being 2-0 down, Laois settled better into the game after this and started to play better hockey. They were keeping better possession of the ball and much more threatening in the D with a couple of near misses from attacks and short corners. Unfortunately, Laois did not manage to find the backboard but they did play well as a team, particularly in the second half. Final score 2-0.
