𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝟐𝐬 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑-𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧: 𝐀𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝐀𝐭𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐧

𝐎𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:

I work as a GP in Maryborough Family Practice in Portlaoise. I also help my father on the farm at home on my days off.

𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:

I usually play left midfield but I tend to move around on the day depending on what is needed for the team.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐫𝐲?

My preferred playing position is actually left back but happy enough playing centre back either.

I started playing hockey at 12 years of age when I started Kilkenny College. I played all the way up along in secondary school and was lucky enough to have a very good team in school that ended up making it to the All Irelands. 3 other girls from that team are now playing regularly with the 2s - Aisling Gormley, Gloria Lewis and Caroline Coburn. I played 2 seasons with Kilkenny Ladies when I finished training and then moved back to Laois HC after I got married.

𝐅𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐥𝐚𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐇𝐂 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐋𝐚𝐨𝐢𝐬 𝐇𝐂?

There have been a few but probably winning our first away game against Portrane last season was a special day. We only had 11 of our core team (no help from special powers) and we had to really grind it out. It was the first time I felt we had turned the corner as a team and started to compete after a shaky start.

Also watching my niece , Lisa Kennedy, score a hatrick in the first quarter of her first match with the 2s last year and getting to play with my sister, Valerie Kennedy, in our last match of the season against Muckross last year.
