Laois 2s took the long trip to Drogheda on Saturday to face Boyne.

Laois had taken the points in a very close home encounter last October. Boyne drawing with Portrane in early January had opened up competition at the top of the table and a tough contest was anticipated.

Laois settled well, with players combining and passing well keeping Boyne under pressure.

The first quarter ended well with Evana Cassidy sliding in goal number 1. Q2 resulted in goal 2 when Averil Atkinson finished some fabulous linking play between Laois mids and forwards

Boyne were always a threat and Q3 saw them break the Laois defense finally when they converted a penalty corner.Laois held their nerve and finished the quarter strong.

Laois knew the points were there for the taking and attacked Q4 from the off. A third goal by Grace C was unfortunately disallowed after Boyne asked for a review but Laois continued to apply the pressure to the end.
