LHC 2s team travelled to North Kildare to take on their 4th team. The pre match team talk focused on good support play and using the ball well, and the team defiantly delivered from the first whistle. Jenny, Mikalya, and Niamh set a strong press and gathered plenty of ball that was carried up both wings by Ciara and Lily. Molly was busy in the centre mid position cutting out North Kildares centre feed. Both sides exchanged attack and defence.
The steady backline of Emma, Kellie, Vicky, and Charlotte had to deal with quick, skilful forwards who were always pressing into home D. Daisy was ever sharp in the goals and was called upon to make some strong saves. A succession of short corners for the opposition eventually led to the first score for the home team.
Ciara made several runs up the right wing and a bouncing ball was unlucky not to find the end of Mikayla's stick while Jenny hit the goal post on another occasion. Finally a clever aerial from Ciara into the D found the stick of Zoe, who dropped it down for Jenny to sneak it past the North Kildare goalie.A real team goal. The second half saw Zoe take up a strong position on the left forward and with the support play from Niamh on the left mid ment they continued to press into the opposition D.
Both sides exchanged play, and the physicality was definitely upped from the home team. The final whistle had the game end in a 1-1 draw and a great team effort from all players and huge thanks to our support on the side line and coach Paul for his great ref skills.
