LHC 2nds travelled to Donabate to taken on the Portrane 4ths. It was always going to be a big away match as both teams are side by side on the league board.  With limited player availability  the LHC ladies lined out as 10 players with a strong team plan on keeping our use of the ball effective and using the wings to plan attack.

The first quarter started with so strong link ups between Ciara, Amy and Evana who as a trio were  strong in attack.  The rest of mid field that included Lily and Mikalya made sure the opposition attack was intercepted and the  strong busy defence of Molly, Kellie, Emma and Charlotte made sure lines were cleared quickly and transferring ball created good counter attack.

The first short corner of the laois ladies saw a shot on goal being rebounded out of the oppositions D but was gathered quickly by the attentive Mikalya and her accurate pass to Ciara in the left side allowed for a strong strike to hit the opposition back board.  1-0 and the 2nd quarter continued to find plenty of interceptions on Portrane attack leaving the score at 1-0. The half time team talk called for every player to focus and dig deep as the Portane team started to press more and more.

Again the opposition right hand attack was dealt with bravely by Evana, Lily and Molly and some strong ariels from Ciara gave the chance for the team to push forward from time to time.. however a well taken short corner from Portrane levelled the game and despite Daisy's strong present in goals  their high positioned forward found the back board on 2 more occasion.. unfortunately the Laois side were reduced to 9 players as Captain Charlotte was yellow carded for seeking clarity on some referring decision.

At the end of the 3rd quarter an accidental collision between players resulted in a head injury which ment Evana had to take to the side lines. The match finished soon afterwards 3-1 to Portane. We are glad to report Evana  was allowed home after medical assessment and want to thank Portrane team manager Kela for her attention to our player. The days game left a lot to be discussed even with the visiting referee but the teams character and work rate shone through.
