Our Laois 1s kicked off their 2024/2025 Leinster Division 5 campaign v Muckross (Away) 21st September 2024.

Laois 1s got their league campaign off to a flying start with a 2-1 over Muckross 4s. The game started with plenty of attacking by Laois with Yvonne Hargroves, Emma Brophy and Gloria Lewis applying plenty of pressure.

Muckross pushed back but came up against a strong Laois defence. 0-0 at half time but Laois eventually broke through the Muckross defence with Yvonne finding the backboard in the 3rd quarter. 

Muckross retaliated with multiple unsuccessful attacks on the Laois goal but after back-to-back short corners, they finally got the ball over the goal line in the 4th quarter. Both teams were determined to claim the winning goal with only minutes left to play which resulted in some lovely passages of play from both sides. 

Finally, after a Muckross injury in their own circle, Laois managed to break through the defence and Gloria scored the winning goal, assisted by Ruth Wilkinson and Holly Ogilvie. A good challenging first match out for Laois 1s. 

Next match Saturday 29th in Loreto Kilkenny vs UCD at 12pm.
