Laois 1s v Avoca (Home) 12th October 2024
Laois 1s faced a strong Avoca side last Saturday 12th October. The game got off to a high-paced start with a number of attacks on goal and short corners from both sides.
However, Laois 1s made their mark with a lovely score from Yvonne Hargroves in the first 10 minutes. Avoca attempted to equalise with a few more attacks on goal before half time but to no avail. Attacks continued from both teams throughout the second half with neither team finding the backboard in spite of clever attacks and dangerous short corners.
Avoca came close to equalising in the last 5 minutes when a long ball in from the halfway line was picked up by an attacker behind the Laois defence which was luckily stopped on the line by Laois keeper Aisling Ní Bhroin.
Laois 1s managed to hold onto their lead and finish a very competitive match on a scoreline of 1-0. Laois 1s play away to Trinity on Saturday at 3.45pm.
