Laois 1s v Trinity 3s (Away) 19th October 2024

Laois Hockey 1s travelled to Trinity Sports Grounds on Saturday to face Trinity 3s. The match got off to a high-paced start with both teams attacking goal early on. Trinity pushed forward and really tested the Laois defence, finally breaking through and finding the backboard in spite of Laois's best attempts. 

Trinity kept the pressure on with multiple attacks on goal, valiantly stopped by keeper Marina Packer. Laois fought back but to no avail. Just before halftime, Trinity managed to break through the Laois defence for a second goal. However, Laois didn't drop the heads and kept fighting. Unfortunately, it was starting to look like it would be a 2-0 defeat to Trinity in the second half until Laois finally managed to breakthrough in the last quarter with a lovely ball in from the sideline which managed to find stick of Aisling Ní Bhroin and eventually found the back of the net. 

Laois pressed their advantage at this point and pushed on to find an equaliser which came in the last three minutes of play off the stick up. Yvonne Hargroves gave a lovely quick ball in to Gloria Lewis who sent it flying past the keeper high into the back of the net. A great come back for Laois Hockey 1s and a great team effort💪
