Laois 1s CUP match v UCD 6s (Home) 23rd November 2024
Laois 1s faced UCD in the 2nd round of the Cup in Loreto Kilkenny on Saturday after a night of very heavy rain and wind which thankfully cleared away in the first quarter. Both sides started off strong with attacks on both goals.
While UCD had a number of attacks foiled by the Laois defence, Laois 1s managed to slip through the UCD defence with a fabulous free pass in from Ruth Wilkinson found Gloria Lewis's stick who then drew the keeper and slipped it past her.
This only strengthened UCD's resolve to fight back and they eventually managed to equalise from a rebound shot before the half time whistle. UCD pushed on a went after another goal which they eventually found in spite of questionable play in the circle. Laois 1s started to run out of steam and fresh legs and UCD pressed their advantage and found another goal.
The game finished 3-1 to UCD which means that UCD progress to the next round of the Cup.
