π Laois 2s v Clontarf Div 10/11 Cup Match Report π
Laois side came out blazing as the faced Clontarf again for the Div 10/11 cup. The home side started strong and it wasnβt long until midfielder Pam found her way into the circle, receiving a ball practically on the baseline and then finding the backboard. Esmee and Mikayla held the centre field and there was good link play down the left wing to Penny. The second quarter it became obvious that our linking up was hard to break down.
The Clontarf Counterattack was kept at bay by Jayne, Charlotte and Averil in the backline. However, it was centre back Kellie, who decided to make a breaking run up the field to the circle where she passed it across the circle and it found Pennyβs stick for the deflection.
In the 3rd quarter the Laois attack remained strong. Eleanor and Yvonne linked up from mid to forward and a short corner was won. It was as if it was taken from the hockey textbook, Eleanor hit from the top and Averil waiting on the post hit it back in front of the goal. The Laois attack was strong and converted it to a goal. What seemed like a βquadro goalβ of Averil, Yvonne, Eleanor and Aisling, was confirmed that it was Yvonne who got the last stick to it.
The home side remained steady with impressive work rate from Ruth and Pamela in Midfield who sent balls up to the forward line. Julie was unlucky not to score as she received great balls from the line and drove them into the circle. It was Aisling who got the last goal from play. The cherry on the top was the last goal which was impressively scored by Eleanor from a straight shot from the top of the circle.
The match ended 5-0 which enabled Laois to progress to the next round of the cup
