Laois 1s got off to a rocky start vs Pembroke Wanderers on Saturday. A wayward pass in the backline allowed Pembroke Wanderers an ideal opportunity to make their mark on the game but Laois's defenders and keeper fought back with a number of saves before it was cleared out over the sideline. 

Unfortunately, Pembroke were still in control and managed to find the backboard with a bouncing pass in from the baseline. Things were still not breaking Laois's way when a shot from the top of the circle just managed to slip inside the goal. 

Laois kept their heads up however and looked more dangerous with a number of attacks up front. Pembroke kept the pressure on with a high press and managed to find the backboard through a short corner a few minutes later and a bobbly strike in which eventually bounced into the goal. Laois did not take this lying down however and used lovely teamwork and clever passing to find the backboard, fabulously finished by Ruth Wilkinson. Halftime score 3-1 to Pembroke. 

Laois came out with a vengeance in the 2nd half and were absolutely gunning for goals. Some excellent passing and persistence resulted in Laois's 2nd goal of the match finished excellently by Laragh Wilkinson (Laragh's 1st goal!). 

Laois looked very threatening and managed to equalise before the end of the 3rd quarter with a lovely goal finished by Eleanor Bagnall. 

It was all to play for then with both sides looking for the winning goal but to no avail. Final score 3-3.
