*Laois 1s v Avoca (Away) 18th January 2025* 

Laois 1s travelled to Newpark School on Saturday to face a very strong Avoca side. Both teams started strong though Avoca had a slight edge on Laois as they kept breaching the Laois D. Avoca kept the pressure on and in spite of multiple saves from keeper Aisling Byrne and the best efforts of the defenders, Avoca managed to find the net with a shot from the baseline that came up off a stick and was finished superbly by an Avoca attacker. Laois didn't drop the heads however and fought back but Avoca were still applying pressure and after a number of clearances out of the Laois circle, Avoca found the backboard for a second time. Laois battled on valiantly however and although Avoca eventually managed to score again after a number of successful clearances by Laois, Laois started to breach the Avoca circle more often and look more threatening. Laois came out a different team in the second half and after a number of chances and short corners, Laois got a score on the board with a lovely goal from Susan Fingleton. Both sides tried their best to find more scores but to no avail, final score Avoca 3, Laois 1s 1.
